Dr Raj is experienced in diagnosing and managing a spectrum of rheumatological conditions from early diagnosis of inflammatory arthritis and their long-term management, conditions such as gout and non-inflammatory musculoskeletal conditions such as osteoarthritis, soft tissue disorders, chronic pain conditions such as fibromyalgia and osteoporosis.

As part of her interest in managing inflammatory arthritis, she completed extensive training in musculoskeletal ultrasound at Postgraduate Certificate (PgC) level. She helped establish the ultrasound clinic within her rheumatology department at Haywood Hospital (Stoke on Trent) to help with the early detection of joint inflammation in inflammatory arthritis patients as well as monitoring disease in patients established on treatment.

Dr Shyra Raj has a busy family life, which centres around her 2 children. She loves to keep active and plays in a local netball team, enjoys family walks in the countryside and doing crazy adrenaline fuelled activities with her family. She can also be spotted enjoying the theatre and going to live music events.
