Removal of Moles, Lumps and Bumps at Enigma Healthcare in Tarporley, Cheshire
If a mole, skin tag, lipoma, or cyst is causing you concern — or simply catching on your clothes — it deserves a proper look, not a guess. We’ll assess it, put your mind at ease, and talk through your options.
If you have a mole, skin tag, lipoma, cyst, or other skin lesion that’s causing you concern, it’s important to have it properly assessed by an experienced healthcare professional. Early assessment can help determine whether any further investigation or treatment is needed — and, just as often, offers simple reassurance where there’s nothing to worry about.
Whatever you’ve noticed, it’s worth having it looked at — here are some of the most common types we see.
Changes in size, shape or colour are worth checking, even if you're not concerned
Small, soft growths that often catch on clothing or jewellery.
Soft, benign lumps of fatty tissue that sit beneath the skin.
Fluid-filled lumps that can become uncomfortable or irritated.
Not every lesion needs to come off. Once your GP has confirmed a lesion is benign, removal is entirely your decision — usually for one of a few reasons.
During your consultation, your GP will examine the lesion, confirm it’s benign, and talk you through whether removal is suitable, what it would involve, and any aftercare you’d need — so you can make an informed decision with no surprises.
Lesions that catch on clothing, jewelry, or razors — or that rub against skin folds during everyday movement — can become a constant, low-level irritation worth resolving.
Some people simply feel more comfortable without a visible mole, tag, or lump — particularly on the face, neck, or other exposed areas. That's a valid reason on its own.
If a lesion isn't bothering you, there's no obligation to remove it. Your GP will talk through the options and let you decide what's right for you.

Most moles are benign, or non-cancerous. If you have a longstanding mole which has not changed, your mole is likely not dangerous. However, there are a few features to look out for:
Size – If your mole is more than 5mm or has grown in size
Shape – If your mole is irregular in shape
Border – Irregular borders
Colour – change in colour
Bleeding – if there has been bleeding without injury
If your moles have any of these features, you should book a consultation to assess your moles.
A full assessment of the concerned area will take place, along with a full medical history.
If the area of concern is suitable for removal, your clinician will confirm this with you and go through the procedure process, what to expect and any risks associated with this.
An appointment for your procedure will be scheduled with the same clinician, for continuity of care, at a convenient time and can often be arranged for their next clinic. You will then receive a full breakdown of the costs of your procedure. The costs start from £150 and depend on the complexity and size of the specimen being removed.
You will arrive for your procedure, having previously received a Pre-Procedure Patient Information Form, which includes information about how to prepare for your appointment.
We advise that you bring someone along to the procedure appointment with you, so they can drive you home afterwards, as you may not feel up to driving straight away.
Expect to be at the clinic for up to 1.5 hours, as you will be asked to relax after your appointment and be monitored by our nurses for a short time after your procedure.
