Book a general private GP appointment Call us on 01829 863 331You can book a private GP appointment for almost any health concern, whether it’s something new, a problem that hasn’t gone away, or a second opinion. Some concerns are better suited to a longer appointment with a GP who has particular experience in that area, so we offer a few different appointment types.
A general GP appointment is the right choice for most new or ongoing health concerns. Your GP will listen to your symptoms, examine you where needed, and talk you through the next steps. That could be a diagnosis and treatment plan, a prescription, blood tests or a scan, or a referral to a specialist.
We see children aged 5 and over for private GP appointments. Your child’s GP will take time to put them at ease, examine them and explain what’s going on in a way that makes sense to both of you. Common reasons to book include ear, throat and chest infections, rashes, persistent coughs and tummy pain.
If you’ve noticed a new or changing mole, or a lump, bump or cyst anywhere on your body, you can book a GP appointment to have it checked. Your GP will examine it and explain what they think it is. If it needs further investigation or removal, they can arrange this with our team here in Tarporley.
A prostate screening appointment gives you time to talk to a GP about your prostate health, any symptoms you’ve noticed and your family history. Your GP can arrange a PSA blood test and, where appropriate, a physical examination. They’ll then explain your results and whether you need any further tests or a referral to a specialist.
Menopause appointments are with a GP who specialises in menopause care. They’re longer than a general appointment, so there’s time to talk through your symptoms, your medical history and your treatment options, including HRT.
Cervical screening, sometimes called a smear test, checks for high-risk types of human papillomavirus (HPV) that can cause changes to the cells of the cervix. You can book a private cervical screening appointment at a time that suits you. That might be because you’ve missed an NHS invitation, you want to be screened between NHS appointments, or you’d simply prefer to be seen privately.
For patients wanting to discuss Mental health, these appointments require a minimum of a 30 minute appointment with a GP experienced in supporting mental health. You can talk about concerns such as low mood, anxiety, stress or difficulty sleeping, and agree a plan together. That plan might include treatment, self-help support or a referral for talking therapy.
If you are in crisis or worried about your immediate safety, please call NHS 111 and select the mental health option, or call 999.
Call our team and they’ll help you choose the right appointment for your concern.

If you have an emergency, please contact 111 or 999 if you are within the UK.
If your GP thinks you need further investigation, many tests can be arranged at our Tarporley clinic, often without a separate trip elsewhere. Your GP can also issue private prescriptions and, if you need a specialist opinion, refer you to one of our on-site consultants in areas such as cardiology, dermatology, gynaecology, ENT and rheumatology. We can also refer you to other specialists or back to your NHS GP where that’s the better route.
