Consultant-led care for foot and ankle pain, nail problems and sports injuries.
Heel pain, a painful nerve in the ball of your foot, an ingrown toenail or an ankle that won’t settle can make every step uncomfortable. You deserve a clear diagnosis and treatment that gets you back on your feet.
Every appointment is with Mr Andrew Williams, a Consultant in Podiatric Medicine and Surgery with more than 30 years’ experience. He was previously Head of Podiatry and Podiatric Surgery at the Countess of Chester Hospital, and a consultant in the Foot and Ankle Unit at Liverpool University Hospitals.
Mr Williams uses diagnostic ultrasound in his clinic to see what’s causing your pain and, where an injection will help, to guide it precisely.
You don’t need a GP referral to book.

A painful, thickened nerve in the ball of the foot, usually between the third and fourth toes, which can feel like standing on a pebble.
Painful, ingrown or recurring toenail problems, including those that keep coming back after treatment.
Achilles tendon problems, ankle sprains, tendonitis and other foot and ankle injuries from sport or exercise.
Aches, stiffness or pain in the ankle or foot, whether it came on after an injury or has built up over time.
Lumps on the foot or ankle, such as ganglion cysts and inflamed bursae, that are painful or rub on footwear.
Flat feet, high arches, bunions and other structural problems that affect how you walk and cause discomfort.
Painful corns and areas of thickened, hard skin that build up under pressure and make walking uncomfortable.
Thickened, discoloured or crumbly toenails and fungal skin infections such as athlete's foot.
Regular foot checks and specialist care for people with diabetes, to spot problems early and help prevent complications such as ulcers.
Morton’s neuroma is a thickening of the tissue around a nerve between the toes, most often the third and fourth. It can cause sharp or burning pain in the ball of the foot, tingling or numbness in the toes, or a feeling like a pebble in your shoe. It’s often worse in tight or high-heeled shoes.
Mr Williams has a long-standing specialist interest in Morton’s neuroma. He uses diagnostic ultrasound in clinic to confirm the diagnosis and rule out other causes of forefoot pain, then talks you through your treatment options. These can include changes to footwear, padding and custom insoles.
Mr Williams was the first clinician to introduce cryosurgery for Morton’s neuroma to the NHS. This minimally invasive procedure uses argon gas to freeze the affected nerve through a small probe, without open surgery. This can be carried out at one of our partner hospitals.
