Frozen Shoulder

Frozen shoulder is a painful condition which causes reduced movement of the shoulder joint. Shoulder hydrodilation involves stretching the capsule of the joint by injecting a mixture of sterile saline, local anaesthetic and steroid. This opens up the joint and releases sticky adhesions within the joint. This is a safe, low risk procedure.

Carpal Tunnel Release Surgery

Carpal tunnel release surgery is a procedure designed to reduce discomfort from carpal syndrome. This condition occurs when the median nerve in your hand becomes compressed, resulting in tingling, numbness, and pain. By surgically dividing the ligament attached to bones of the wrist that form an important "tunnel" for tendons and nerves, medical professionals can alleviate pressure on those structures - leading to significant symptom relief after healing has occurred.

Joint Injections

Steriod injections to ease pain and increase movement. Steriod injections, also called corticosteroid injections, are anti-inflammatory medicines used to treat a range of conditions.

Joint injections are a quick procedure to inject hydrocortisone (a type of steroid) directly into an inflamed, swollen joint. Damage or injury to a joint can cause chronic joint pain and make it harder to enjoy everyday activities. Conditions that may cause joint pain include: Arthritis, Bursitis, Osteoarthritis, Tendonitis.

A joint injection could benefit you by reducing inflammation and swelling in the affected joint, especially if you’re experiencing:

  • Elbow pain
  • Hip pain
  • Knee pain
  • Shoulder pain
  • Wrist pain

The type of injection and treatment plan will be fully discussed with you including any side effects.

Ultrasound

Ultrasound scan is a diagnostic procedure used to take pictures of internal organs and tissues. Our Ultrasound scans are reported by Consultant Radiologists, which ensures that you receive the highest level of care every time. An ultrasound scan uses high frequency sound waves to produce images of the internal organs  – the same technology as the sonar used by ships. These images are displayed on a monitor and can then be stored electronically.

Ultrasound is used for a variety of scans including:

  • Musculoskeletal ultrasound – particularly to look at soft tissue injury. The scan can be used to localise injections into trigger points
  • Gynaecological Ultrasound
  • Breast ultrasound – ultrasound can be very useful in identifying the nature of any breast lumps
  • Echocardiography – ultrasound can give a dynamic picture of how the heart is working and allows you cardiologist to measure the output of the heart and the effects of diseases
  • Abdominal scans – ultrasound scanning is the best way to look for gallstones, but it is also valuable for looking at the liver, spleen, kidneys and other solid organs
  • Vascular system – ultrasound is very effective at identifying and monitoring aortic aneurysms and is a non-invasive way of determining the site of an arterial obstruction
  • Testicular Screen
  • Neck lumps – including thyroid
