A hysteroscopy is a simple procedure that helps diagnose and treat conditions affecting the womb (uterus).
A hysteroscopy lets our Consultant Gynaecologist look directly inside your womb (uterus) to find — and often treat — the cause of symptoms such as heavy, irregular or unexpected bleeding, frequently in a single appointment.
Carried out gently under local anaesthetic at our Tarporley clinic, it’s a thorough, reassuring way to get clear answers close to home — whether you’re here for general gynaecology reasons or as part of your fertility journey. You don’t need a GP referral; you can come straight to us.
Based in Tarporley, we welcome patients from across Cheshire, Chester, Warrington, Knutsford, Nantwich, Northwich, Crewe and Stoke-on-Trent.
A hysteroscopy is a procedure that uses a thin, telescope-like camera — called a hysteroscope — to examine the inside of your womb (uterus). It is one of the most accurate ways to investigate abnormal bleeding and to identify polyps, fibroids and other changes to the womb lining.
Where appropriate, small problems can be treated during the same appointment — a “see-and-treat” approach that often saves you a second visit.
Your appointment includes:

You’ll meet Prof Otify to talk through your symptoms and history, so together you can decide whether a hysteroscopy is the right next step.
£2,200 · £200 deposit
Your hysteroscopy takes place under local anaesthetic, right here in Tarporley.
If applicable
Any tissue taken during your procedure is sent to the lab for analysis. Results are usually back within 7–10 working days, and we’ll be in touch to talk you through them.
£200
If you need to discuss your results in more detail, we’ll book you in for a follow-up appointment once they’re back — so you leave with a clear plan.
Because your procedure is carried out under local anaesthetic, there’s a small chance Prof Otify may feel it’s best not to continue on the day — for example, if a polyp or fibroid turns out to be larger than expected, or if you’re finding it too uncomfortable.
If that happens, we’d arrange for the procedure to take place under general anaesthetic at another location instead, and Prof Otify will talk you through this on the day, should it come up.
Please note that if your consultant feels it’s best not to continue, a partial charge will apply. This simply reflects the time and care involved — never a penalty — and everything will be explained clearly.
Take the first step towards clear answers. Whether you’re here for general gynaecology reasons or as part of your fertility journey, we’ll guide you through every stage – no GP referral needed.
